Mary “Louise” Williams

Mary ‘Louise’ Williams, 66, of Pocola, OK passed away Saturday, August 30, 2008 in Ft. Smith, AR. She was born in Ft. Smith on November 1, 1941. Louise was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ft. Smith, AR. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby L. Wiliams. She was a loving mother, wife, grandmother, & friend to all who knew her. She enjoyed painting, fishing, and being with her loved ones. She lived life to its fullest & will be missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include her daughter & son in law, Angelia & Frank Edwards of Pocola, OK; son & daughter in law, Lewis & Kimberly Williams of Pocola, OK; 3 grandchildren, Stephen, Austin, & Corey; other relatives & loved ones; many beloved friends.

Services will be held 10 am, Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at the First Baptist Church in Pocola, OK with the Rev. Phil Whitten officiating. Interment will follow in New Hope Cemetery, Spiro, OK. Pallbearers will be Stephen Edwards, Kenneth Plant, James Plant, Andrew Self, Mike Nichols, and Mark Johns. Honorary pallbearer will be Ray Plant. Arrangements under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home, Pocola, OK.

ELVA N. SLOAN

  Elva N. Sloan, 91, of Poteau, OK passed away, Thursday, August 28, 2008 in Ft. Smith, AR.  He was born April2 2, 1917 in Calhoun, OK.  Elva was a nurse. 

  Survivors include 3 sisters, Betty Lou Markobitz of Anaheim, CA, Helen Lewis and Ellen Milam, both of Poteau; 2 brothers, James Ronald Lewis of Oklahoma & George Herman Lewis of Las Vegas, NV; daughter in law, Marsha Sloan of Tulsa, OK; 2 grandsons, Kenneth Grant Sloan & Kevin Lynn Sloan.

  Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, August 31, 2008 in Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau, OK with the Rev. Phil McGehee officiating.  Interment will be in Milton Cemetery, Milton, OK.

Blanche Deaton

   Blanche Deaton, 94, of Poteau, OK passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2008 in Poteau.  She was born December 28, 1913 in Pinnacle, AR.  Blanche was a member of Double Branch Baptist Church and she was a homemaker.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Deaton; a son, Leon Deaton, & a granddaughter, Jana Deaton.

  Survivors include 2 daughters & sons-in-law, Billye Florence & Dewey Humphries of North Las Vegas, NV, Betty & Ollen Odean Nichols of Poteau, OK; 10 Grandchildren, Stan Humphries, Brad Humphries, Debbie Tanner, David Deaton, Donna Cortez, Dian Dupont, Rick Nichols, Ron Nichols, Randy Nichols, & Rhonda Hargis; 26 Great Grandchildren; 3 Great Great Grandchildren; other relatives & loved ones; a host of beloved friends.

  Services:  2 pm, Saturday, August 30, 2008 in Evans Chapel of Memories – Poteau, OK with the Rev. Phil McGehee and Rev. Jimmy D. Cook officiating.  Interment will follow in Vaughn Cemetery, Gilmore, OK.  Family visitation will be from 6-8 Friday evening, August 29 at the funeral home.

Robert Charles “Mick” Isaac, Jr., 41, of Sallisaw, passed away Aug. 19, 2008 in Sallisaw.   He was born May 3, 1967, in Poteau.  He was a factory worker, and was a member of the lakeview Baptist Church of Spiro.
Mick was preceded in death by his grandfather, Presley Isaac.  He is survived by his Grandmother, Patricia Isaac of Sallisawk; wife Connie of Sallisaw; sons, Joshua, James both of Salolisaw and Josseph of Checotah; granddaughter, Lizabeth of Sallisaw; his father, Robert Charles of Poteau; mother Gay Smith of Sallisaw; six sisters, Robin Harris of Sallisaw, Patricia Drain of Bunch, Sherri Isaac of Poteau, Shalain Locust of Central, Vicky Rios of Charleston, Ark; Dawn Denise Copeland of Fort Smith, Ark.; three brothers, Merrit Isaac of Poteau; Tommy Lester of Spiro; Steven Fritts of Sallisaw; numerous other relatives, friends and loved ones.
Graveside services will be conducted Saturday, at 2 p.m. at New Hope Cemetery in Spiro, with Rev. James Jones officiating.
